Nearly a year since the "Rust" shooting incident happened, a New Mexico district attorney said that Alec Baldwin and three more people on the movie's set might face criminal charges soon.

CBS News reported First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies' filing requesting an emergency fund request for $635,500 as they are near to charging people involved in Halyna Hutchin's death. The district attorney added that the amount would be used to fund the ongoing probe into the case.

The attorney made the request during a New Mexico Board of Finance meeting last week.

"We are within weeks, if not days, of receiving the final report from the sheriff's office. It's become apparent that we will be potentially charging between one and four people with criminal charges, and each of those charges will probably include some variation of our homicide statute," district attorney Carmack-Altwies continued.

During the meeting, the district attorney declared Baldwin could be one of the defendants. It added that the case itself might need four separate jury trials.

The board has since approved the $317,750 of the requested emergency fund.

The district attorney's move came after New Mexico's Office of the Medical Investigator wrapped up the autopsy, and the FBI completed the forensics investigation.

Hutchins, the film's cinematographer, was killed after Baldwin "pulled" the trigger of what had been announced as a cold gun.

Alec Baldwin Releases New Statement

Following the district attorney's announcement, the actor's representative, Attorney Luke Nikas, penned a letter saying that the DA's office should review the matter without any innuendo.

"During my communications with the DA's office just a few weeks ago, after the August 30 funding request was submitted, I was told that it would be premature to discuss the case because they had not yet reviewed the file or deliberated about their charging decision," he said, as quoted by Deadline.
