'Angry' Meghan Markle Expected To Be Paid on 1st Royal Tour, New Book Claims [DETAILS]
A new book made a shocking claim about Meghan Markle reportedly feeling "angry" following her first royal tour years ago.
Meghan officially became part of the royal family when she wedded Prince Harry in May 2018. As a royal and Duchess of Sussex, she was required to appear in royal engagements and tours alongside her loving husband.
But a new bombshell book recently made shocking claims about her first-ever royal tour in 2018, saying the 41-year-old complained about not receiving a payment.
Valentine Low wrote in his book "Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown" (via Page Six) that the actress-turned-royal was overheard fuming as she complained about not getting paid during her first royal tour.
Low added that the duchess faced increasing day-to-day demands, especially when she and Prince Harry headed to New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, and Australia.
The royal author claimed that Meghan never grasped why she had to do the engagements and appearances as a royal.
"Although she enjoyed the attention, Meghan failed to understand the point of all those walkabouts [and] shaking hands with countless strangers," he said, adding that she took out her anger on the aides responsible for their engagements.
The new claims resonated with what Jason Knauf, the Sussexes' media operations staff, claimed in October 2018. At that time, he expressed concerns about Meghan's bullying issue with two PAs in the household.
How Royal Family Earns Money
Royal family members do not truly get their money from engagements alone. In fact, they get most of the cash from the Sovereign Grant.
BBC explains that the Sovereign Grant is being funded by taxpayers while the royal family surrenders Crown Estate's profits to the government in exchange for it. Twenty-five percent of the Crown Estate's profits is given to the reigning monarch every year.
In comparison, The Wall Street Journal revealed that the Grant had $107.1 million in 2019 alone. The amount then covers the expenses during the royal members' travels and employees' compensations, but it does not shoulder the security costs and events costs during royal ceremonies.
Meanwhile, royal commentators revealed to Insider that Prince Harry and Meghan are allowed to earn money outside the monarchy since they are no longer working royals. But the usual setup prevents full-time members of the Crown are not allowed to do so.
