Angela Lansbury has been a big part of the entertainment industry for decades that's why many fans have been remembering her since she passed away earlier this week. Recently, many outlets have recalled a previous interview where the actress detailed how her family was connected to Charles Manson, a notorious cult leader.

In 2014, the "Mary Poppins" star spoke to the Daily Mail where she recalled saving her daughter Deidre Shaw from the cult when she was a teenager.

The late actress said it "pains" her to say that her daughter was previously involved in a crowd led by the convicted criminal.

"She was one of many youngsters who knew him and they were fascinated. He was an extraordinary character, charismatic in many ways, no question about it," she said. (via New York Post)

Lansbury and her husband Peter Shaw were residing in Malibu at the time, and she said there were factions around their area that were "dedicated to deadly pursuits.

Unfortunately, two of her children started using drugs. It all began when tried cannabis and then later tried heroin. It's sad for the actress and her husband as both of them had no idea what was happening to their son and daughter.

They were clueless about the obvious signs as both of them didn't have experience with illegal substances, especially the "significance of finding a pipe in a drawer."

How Did Angela Lansbury Save Her Kids From Charles Manson, Drug Use

Lansbury took matters into her own hands as she decided to make a big move after finding out about her children's drug problems.

Her family relocated to Ireland from Malibu. At the time, she told her husband that they had to leave and the perfect place to reside was the country mentioned above because her mother was born there.

Another significant reason why they moved there was her two children wouldn't be exposed to any more illegal activities and bad habits.

The five-time Tony Award-winning star focused on raising her children throughout their teenage years and she did her best to provide for them.

Eventually, both Deidre and Anthony Shaw recovered, leading them to relocate back to California.

Lansbury considered the experience "very lucky" as she and her husband found out about their children's wrongdoings at the time.
