"Harry Potter" star Robbie Coltrane's cause of death has been determined nearly two weeks after he passed away.

Reports about Coltrane's death became the topic of discussion all over the globe, especially among "Harry Potter" fans. His agent Scott Henderson first confirmed the news to several news outlets, but he did not reveal his cause of death.

Nearly two weeks after his passing, multiple UK news outlets revealed what led to Coltrane's death.

As quoted by Deadline, Robbie Coltrane's cause of death was reportedly due to multiple organ failure. It also revealed the content of his death certificate, where it was noted that he suffered sepsis, lower respiratory tract infection, and heart block.

Kindred Hospitals explains that multiple organ system failure happens when an infection or injury's inflammation leads to two or more organ to dysfunction. This condition can be fatal and can be caused by sepsis - something Coltrane also faced before his death.

Following the revelation, internet users shared their heartbreak as they continued to mourn Coltrane's death.

The CEO of UK Sepsis Trust, Dr. Daniels BEM, said, "We @UKSepsisTrust are deeply saddened to learn that #sepsis contributed to the death of the incredible talent Robbie Coltrane OBE. I suspect care was exemplary & his death perhaps unavoidable, but it reminds us how this killer condition can affect anyone."

Robbie Coltrane's Weight Also Became a Problem

Aside from his health issues, a news outlet noted that the actor's weight contributed to his death.

The death certificate it also obtained disclosed that he was previously diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and obesity.

For what it's worth, Coltrane received a warning from his and urged him to lose weight as he was at risk of getting crippled. This caused him to suffer from osteoarthritis, which led him to be in constant pain.

Although he tried to reach his target weight in 2016 before an operation, he discovered that he had lost his cartilage in one of his knees. He waited for four years before receiving his long-awaited knee replacement surgery.

He opened up to Daily Express about the constant pain that made him lose his ability to walk independently.

In the months leading to his death, the actor made fans worry even more when he missed the Comic-Con at Olympia London in July due to his "ill health."
