Meghan Markle A 'Walking Contradiction' Of Words, Actions: Royal Commentator
Meghan Markle is in hot water following her red carpet return, with one royal commentator saying she's an "enigma."
In the recent episode of Sky New's "The Bolt Report," host Andrew Bolt seemingly criticized the Duchess of Sussex for hogging the red carpet at Variety magazine's Power of Women gala in Los Angeles Thursday evening for too long despite her assistant's efforts to tell her to move forward. He admitted that he was fascinated by Prince Harry's wife, whom he described as "like a study in modern narcissism, very much a woman of the times."
Esther Krakue, writer, broadcaster, TV presenter and royal commentator, joined Bolt for the episode. The host told Krakue she probably didn't share his fascination with Markle before asking her opinion about the duchess' recent sighting.
"I do actually share your fascination with her because I'm very curious how her worldwide privacy tour is going while she's posing in front of the cameras at a Hollywood event," Krakue replied, making Bolt laugh.
"She is an enigma in a sense that she is a walking contradiction. But it's very fascinating to watch [her] because she and her husband lead the most ridiculous lives I think I've ever seen personally and it's a shame that they're attacked to the royal family in this way."
Krakue explained that for her, the former "Suits" star is an enigma because she and Prince Harry have always said they wanted their privacy, but they seemingly love the cameras, as seen in Markle's recent Hollywood event. Additionally, Krakue recounted Markle saying she was passionate about charity works and giving back, but she's now working on producing and putting more on content, which the pundit thinks is in "stark contrast" to her humanitarian work.
"The fear is that she's going to put at work that's as preachy and sanctimonious as her and her husband. She's probably going to [talk] about climate change while she hops around to Katy Perry concerts in a private jet," she continued.
Prince Harry's biographer Angela Levin called Markle a "hypocrite" again due to her appearance at the gala. The "Harry: A Biography of a Prince" author pointed out the color of Markle's gown at the event.
The Duchess of Sussex wore a beige one-shoulder midi dress with a slit hem designed by Proenza Schouler. However, per Levin, Markle previously "made a huge complaint" about it, claiming that the royal family asked her to wear that shade and avoid bright colors so she wouldn't stand out. However, she opted for the same hue years after leaving the royals.
"Here we have Miss hypocrite again," Levin said via GB News.
Although Markle received a lot of criticism in her most recent red carpet appearance, her fans were delighted to see her again after she kept a low-key profile in the past months.
"[S]he is so beautiful. And I admire how hard she works to uplift others. Such a great role model," one supporter commented. Another wrote, "She is such a beauty! Really happy to see her back," with a smiling face with a heart-eyes emoji.
