While the reality series spin-off of "Squid Game" started with 456 players from all around the world competing to take home the $4.56 million cash prize, only three players will be heading to the season finale titled "One Lucky Day."

From 456 players, only three remained to continue with the competition: Player 287 (Mai), Player 451 (Phill) and Player 16 (Sam). They bested the other six players in episode 9's "Circle of Trust," where the nine players got asked to sit at grade school-type desks while blindfolded.

In the game, after receiving a shoulder tap from the guard, the player will remove his/her blindfold, take a gift box from the pedestal and place it on the desk of another blindfolded player. If the recipient correctly guessed the giver of the box, the giver will be eliminated.

In the "Circle of Trust," Phill successfully sent home Player 51 (Rose) and Player 278 (Ashley) after correctly guessing that they were the players who left the small gift boxes on his desk. Meanwhile, Player 355 (Hallie) got eliminated as well after Phill targeted her and she failed to figure it out.

Mai also successfully eliminated two players after correctly guessing that Player 429 (Elliott) gave her a box. Meanwhile, she eliminated Player 418 (Ronald) after she placed a box on his desk and evaded his suspicion.

Sam made it to the final three because he was neither targeted nor had to target other players.

The executive producer of the reality competition told Entertainment Weekly his thoughts about the final three players, "They clearly had come on a long journey, and they deserved to be there."

Followers of the series who finished watching the latest episode of "Squid Game: The Challenge" shared their thoughts about the final three players on X, formerly Twitter.

One X user claimed, "The final 3 of the reality game mirrored the original series with two male players and one female player left..."

"I just finished watching the next four episodes of 'Squid Game,' and I think that this is an interesting final 3. I think all of them have an equal chance of winning," tweeted another viewer.

A third netizen quipped, "I just caught up on 'Squid Game: The Challenge' and I like the final 3, but this is a Mai stan account now."

Since "Squid Game: The Challenge's" premiere on Netflix last Nov. 22, it has released episodes 1-9. Its finale episode will be released on Dec. 6.
