American singer-songwriter Ciara recently took to her Instagram account to share a clip from the Tuesday episode of PBS' "Finding Your Roots," where she learned that former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is her distant cousin.

The 38-year-old artist captioned her Instagram post, "The moment I learned @DerekJeter was my cousin! Crazy! Thank you @drhenrylouisgates for such an incredible experience! This was a dream come true to learn about my family genealogy."

The "Finding Your Roots" host, Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr., also posted the clip on his X account.

"What in the world?!" Ciara reacted after finding out that she is "DNA cousins" with the legendary New York Yankees player.

"You are kidding me. Derek Jeter! That's crazy," she exclaimed. When their DNAs were compared, it was reportedly discovered that Ciara and Jeter share a long identical stretch of DNA on their 14th chromosome, which Jeter inherited from his mother.

Meanwhile, Ciara's husband, Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson requoted Dr. Henry Louis Gates' tweet and wrote, "Always knew it! @Yankees Captain!" He also tagged both his wife and Jeter on his tweet.

To note, Wilson previously played baseball. Based on his profile on Major League Baseball's website, he played two seasons.

According to Sporting News, the New York Yankees still hold Wilson's baseball rights.

"There's a resemblance...that's awesome!" commented one user, while another wrote, "Now I think they look a lot alike. Beautiful people!"

"Orangeburg County birthed some great people! You come from good stock, as the old folks used to say," commented someone else.

"The talent runs deep," said a fourth user.
