Kate Middleton doesn't think about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle amid her recovery, according to a royal expert.

The Princess of Wales is still recovering following her abdominal surgery in January. Christopher Andersen, American journalist and author, weighed in on how her health battle might have affected her brother-in-law, Prince Harry, who used to be very close to her.

"I think there was once a relationship, a friendship, a very close one between Harry and Kate," the author of the best-selling "The King: The Life of Charles III and William and Kate: A Royal Love Story," told Us Weekly. "I'm sure he's concerned about her as well, but I know that she wants to have nothing to do with them."

He added that Middleton has "her own problems now," so she's unlikely to consider the issues involving the Sussexes. Andersen also doesn't think Prince Harry reached out to his sister-in-law. He believes that no one took the first step toward a potential reconciliation.

"My understanding is he hasn't, and it is a stalemate," he said. "They're both on opposite sides of this wall, and nobody has the courage to leap over it and really make an honest attempt."

For Prince Harry's part, the royal expert claimed he didn't receive a warm welcome every time he traveled to the United Kingdom. That was probably among the reasons he didn't want to reach out.

"Every time he's gone there, he's been given the cold shoulder, and he's aware of that," Andersen explained. "I think he fears it'll just be the same situation all over."

For the Duchess of Cambridge's part, Andersen believes she still "feels betrayed" by him in the same way her husband, Prince William, and father-in-law, King Charles, do.

Prince Harry shared the text exchanges between Middleton and Markle about the bridesmaid dresses that left his wife in tears in his book "Spare." Prince Harry also alleged that Middleton grimaced when his wife borrowed her lip gloss.

Meanwhile, previous reports claimed that the Duchess of Sussex reached out to Middleton. However, Kinsey Schofield, entertainment correspondent and host of the royal podcast "To Di For Daily," denied the claim.

"This allegation is not true," Schofield told Fox News Digital. "Meghan Markle has not been in contact with the Princess of Wales. As the princess is currently in recovery, it would be a highly inappropriate time for Meghan to do any outreach."

She added that the future queen was "navigating light communication," and Markle wasn't reportedly part of her agenda.
