MacKenzie Scott, ex-wife of tech billionaire Jeff Bezos, is determined to "empty the safe" following her participation in "The Giving Pledge."

Scott, 53, announced Tuesday that she will donate an additional $640 million to 361 small nonprofits that reacted quickly to her open call, including several in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota.

The philanthropist put her foot to the pedal after signing the pledge in 2019 after becoming the richest woman in the world following her divorce settlement from now ex-husband, Bezos, 60.

According to her website Yield Giving, Scott has "yielded over $17,300,000,000 to over 2,300 non-profit teams to use as they see fit for the benefit of others."

The pledge, introduced by wealthy philanthropists Warren Buffett, and Bill and Melinda Gates, came to life when they challenged themselves to set a "new standard of generosity."

"The Giving Pledge is a simple concept: an open invitation for billionaires, or those who would be if not for their giving, to publicly commit to give the majority of their wealth to philanthropy either during their lifetimes or in their wills," the website explains.

On Tuesday, Scott dropped another bag, donating an additional $9 million in gifts to Southeast Michigan nonprofits. Around 6,353 nonprofits applied to $1 million in grants once the application became active, per the Associated Press.

"In addition to whatever assets life has nurtured in me, I have a disproportionate amount of money to share," Scott said frankly.

She concluded in her pledge: "My approach to philanthropy will continue to be thoughtful. It will take time and effort and care. But I won't wait. And I will keep at it until the safe is empty."
