A woman who was sexually assaulted by a Delta Air Lines employee on a flight back from a Taylor Swift concert last year is now suing the company and the perpetrator.

The unidentified woman was asleep on a Delta flight as she was returning home to Seattle, Washington, from Swift's concert in Arizona on March 20, 2023, when she was groped by fellow passenger and then-Delta mechanic Duane Brick, according to a press release from aviation attorney Mark Lindquist, who is representing the victim.

Brick, 53, pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact in March in connection with the incident, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Washington.

Brick admitted to placing the victim's hand on his crotch as well as putting his hand under her shirt and touching her breasts as she slept during the flight.

Brick, who is scheduled for sentencing in June, faces up to two years in prison.

According to the lawsuit filed in King County, Washington, Brick was visibly intoxicated and left behind empty airline alcohol bottles when he went to the restroom following the assault.

The victim and a witness immediately reported the sexual assault to the flight crew.

However, the lawsuit alleged that Brick was allowed to return to his seat and stay next to the victim for 15 minutes before he was transferred to another seat.

"As a common carrier, Delta owes the highest duty of care and has a legal duty to provide airline passengers, including the Plaintiff, with a safe flight that is free from unauthorized and abusive sexual contact from other passengers, including from Delta's own employees," the lawsuit stated.

Delta Air Lines and Brick are being sued for negligence, gross negligence, assault and battery.

The lawsuit alleged that Delta overserved alcohol to Brick and failed to properly monitor the cabin and protect passengers.

The airline was also accused of failing to adequately train employees on how to prevent and address sexual assaults in the lawsuit.

Delta Air Lines and Brick have not yet publicly addressed the lawsuit.

This comes more than a month after a 16-year-old Taylor Swift fan was killed in a car crash on her way to the singer's "Eras Tour" concert in Melbourne, Australia, in February.
