One of Hollywood's hottest actors may be the voice of a talking raccoon in an upcoming blockbuster.

Bradley Cooper has allegedly been offered the voice role of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel's 2014 blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy. Cooper is the frontrunner to voice the raccoon, according to a Thursday report by Latino Review, a well-respected casting news website.

Rocket Raccoon is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy who is able to speak and have intelligent thought. The raccoon, who first appeared in the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series, is an expert marksman and a master at military tactics.

Assuming the news is true, this would be Cooper's first venture into superhero blockbusters. The actor has mostly appeared in comedies, such as The Hangover and Silver Linings Playbook, and thrillers like Limitless and The Words.

When Cooper was asked if he was interested in doing superhero movies, and how his fan-base would react, he seemed open to the idea.

"I don't think about [my brand] at all," he told The Huffington Post in early August. "It's really simple: I just want to get better and work with great directors. That's it. That's the formula for me. I'm like a sponge. I just take in as much information as possible."

If Cooper signs on as Rocket Raccoon, he would be joining an all-star cast that includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly and Benicio del Toro.

Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled to be released in theaters on Aug. 1, 2014.
