Kevin McKidd recently revealed details about Owen Hunt and Cristina Yang's on-screen relationship in season 10 of Grey's Anatomy, taking about his character's desire to have children and single status on the show.

McKidd spoke to The Huffington Post before it was publicly announced that Sandra Oh will be leaving the ABC series after season 10, giving up her role as Owen's on-again, off-again girlfriend and also Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) best friend. Even though the news of her departure was still under wraps at the time of the interview, McKidd talked about Owen's life moving forward without Cristina and his possible new love interests.

The season 10 premiere picks off right where the season 9 finale ended, with Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital in the midst of a storm. The last few minutes of the finale showed Cristina and Owen ending their relationship again, with her deciding for the both of them that he would not be happy with just her and no child.

"It's tricky. He wants a baby, and he then decided that he didn't want a baby because he loved her more than that, but she's made this unilateral decision -- again -- to go, 'Well, I know you better than you know yourself, and I know you need a baby,' " McKidd said. "And she's probably right, but it's one of those things where, you know, does somebody else get to tell you how to live? Maybe he's happy with that decision. So they're going to wrestle with that."

Going into season 10 McKidd said Owen and Cristina are "going to be in a place of not togetherness for a while." However, he explained that during that time they will most likely still feel attracted to each other and end up doing "stupid things together."

"The thing with Cristina and Owen is they're always going to be connected. So it's really complicated," he said. "But Owen is definitely going to explore what it means to have a baby and start making moves towards that, later in the season I think. She's going to encourage him to do that, even though she doesn't want him to do that. It's a push and a pull with them, always."

McKidd was asked if there will be any temptations for Owen from other women coming onto the show, such as season 9 guest star Hilarie Burton who came in between Callie Torres (Sarah Ramirez) and Arizona Robbins' (Jessica Capshaw) marriage. The actor did not directly address the question and instead revealed that someone from the show's past will return and stir drama. He added, "That's what happens in relationships on TV shows, and in life -- everything looks great on the surface, but underneath it's crumbling. It only takes one moment for things to fall apart."

"They all have a lot of issues. The thing about every character on Grey's is that they're all completely dysfunctional," he jokingly said..

Filming for the show's 200th episode began Friday, Aug. 23, actress Camilla Luddington tweeted.
