American actress Dakota Johnson was recently announced to play the role of Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of E.L. James' highly popular series Fifty Shades of Grey.

The role is one that may in fact change Johnson's life forever, like Hunger Games did for Jennifer Lawrence and similarly Twilight for Kristen Stewart. Johnson, was is also listed as a model on her IMDb page, had supporting roles alongside Channing Tatum in 21 Jump Street, Emily Blunt in The Five-Year Engagement and Justin Timberlake in The Social Network. Her most memorable role may be Kate Fox in the short-lived FOX series Ben and Kate. She played a neurotic single mother who lets her older brother move in to help take care of her child. The show was canceled after one season.

Johnson's father is former Miami Vice star Don Johnson. Her mother is Hollywood star Melanie Griffith, who married Antonio Banderas in 1996. Dakota is also the granddaughter of Birds actress, Tippi Hedren.

The same day that James announced that Johnson will play the leading female role in the movie, the actress opened a Twitter account. Her first few messages were about the casting and she thanked fans for their support.

"Can officially say that I am casted as Anastasia in Fifty Shades of Grey with Charlie Hunnam as Christian. Shocked&wondering how to respond," she started off by saying. "Fam have been asking me if I'm excited,and I'm like have u read the book.Cos if I say I'm excited,they will say is this how we brought u up. Thanks for all the support everyone. Although, any chance y'all have the the script with you."
