Prime Video Cancels 'Gen V' After Season 2, but Its Young Heroes Are Set To Return in 'The Boys'
Prime Video has officially canceled "Gen V," the college-set spinoff of "The Boys," after just two seasons, but the show's young characters will not disappear from the franchise entirely.
The cancellation was announced in late April 2026, roughly six months after the "Gen V" Season 2 finale aired in October 2025. The second season premiered on Sept. 17, 2025, and concluded on Oct. 22, 2025.
Executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg addressed the cancellation in a joint statement. "While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we're committed to continuing the 'Gen V' characters' stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon," they said. "You'll see them again," according to Hollywood Reporter.
'Gen V' Characters in 'The Boys'
Several "Gen V" characters have already made appearances in "The Boys" Season 5, which premiered on Apr. 8, 2026, and is set to wrap up with its series finale on May 20, 2026. Characters such as Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan Li, and Emma Meyer are expected to play significant roles in the flagship show's final episodes.
"Gen V" originally launched in September 2023 to strong viewership and critical praise, earning it a quick Season 2 renewal before its first season even finished airing. Set at Godolkin University, the elite training school for young superheroes in the world of "The Boys," the spinoff followed Marie and her fellow students as they uncovered dark secrets within the institution.

However, the series faced a major setback in March 2024 when cast member Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson, died at age 27 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, Entertainment Weekly reported.
The tragedy forced the production to significantly rework its Season 2 storylines. Rather than recasting the role, the creative team wrote Andre's death into the show as a central narrative element.
Season 2 also reportedly struggled with viewership, only cracking the streaming top ten once during its run, a key factor in Prime Video's cancellation decision.
The Vought Cinematic Universe (VCU) is still moving forward with upcoming projects. "Vought Rising," a 1950s-set prequel starring Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront, is expected to be released in 2027, as per Collider. A separate spinoff, "The Boys: Mexico," is also still in early development, though no release date has been confirmed.
