Mara Sharapova sparked rumors she may be engaged when she wore a ring on her wedding ring finger during New York Fashion Week.

Sharapova attended the Philip Lim for Target launch party during New York Fashion Week in New York City on Thursday -- and photos of the 26-year-old tennis star's gold ring with an unusual intricate design detail went viral.

The accessory complimented her silk green and navy dress with white heels, as her blonde tresses flowed loosely.

Sharapova is currently dating 22-year-old Gigi Dimitrov, another tennis star. The couple have been dating for almost a year, and she has been seen sitting courtside at his matches.

Dimitrov was the subject of a feud between Sharapova and fellow tennis champion Serena Williams recently. Williams threw a jab at their relationship in the June issue of Rolling Stone magazine.

"She's not going to be invited to the cool parties. And, hey, if she wants to be with the guy with a black heart, go for it," Williams said of Dimitrov, whom she also dated briefly.

Sharapova reportedly responded to the below-the-belt remark at a press conference, saying, "If she wants to talk about something personal, maybe she should talk about her relationship and her boyfriend that was married and is getting a divorce and has kids."

Sharapova was referring to Patrick Mouratoglou, the French tennis coach whom Williams is currently dating.

Williams beat Sharapova during the London Olympics in August 2012 and sparked controversy when she celebrated her win by performing the infamous "cripwalk" dance on the tennis court.

Sharapova was previously engaged to NBA player Sasha Vujacic. The former Los Angeles Lakers player proposed to Sharapova in October. 2010. He asked for her hand in marriage with a $250,000 ring. She later revealed in September 2012 that they "quietly" ended their engagement several months prior after he moved to Turkey to play professional basketball.
