Brie Larson is returning to Community in season 5 as Abed's (Danny Pudi) crush Rachel.

TVLine announced Thursday that Larson would be reprising her role as Rachel in the episode after Donald Glover's departure as Troy Barnes. Her appearance may help Abed work through being without Troy, his best friend.

"There's a nice reason for her comeback," Pudi told TVLine recently. "It's a nice wrap-up to the storyline for Abed in this episode. And it's a really great way to see another side of this character - especially this year with Troy leaving."

Glover is only appearing in five of 13 episodes in season 5 after requesting to be written off the show to pursue his rapping career.

"Things have been introduced with Abed [in past seasons] that we've never really revisited," Pudi added, "so it's nice to see something that we go back to - especially with Brie, because she's great. She's an incredible actor."

Several other guest stars will be appearing in the episode after Glover's departure, including Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds), musician Ben Folds, comedian Kumail Nanjiani and character actor Robert Patrick (Sons of Anarchy).

Nathan Fillion (Castle) and Katie Leclerc (Switched at Birth) will also be appearing in the episode. The episode will involve a midterm dance, which likely explains the number of guest stars.
