Singer Sinead O'Connor has opened up about her high profile feud with Miley Cyrus and how Justin Bieber could be falling into a trap as well.

The 46-year-old Irish singer told Time magazine a little good came from her and Cyrus attacking each other a social media.

"What was more important that came out of the Miley thing was being able to conversate about mental health and human rights. I think she was actually very helpful. The two of us, without meaning to, did quite a good job in terms of creating conversation about something really, really important," said the Grammy-award winning singer.

During their feud, Cyrus tweeted 2-year-old Twitter posts from O'Connor when she suffered a mental breakdown stemming from bipolar disorder.

O'Connor went on to say that young artists like Cyrus are often taken advantage of by the music industry.

"The sounds of the records and the videos and how artists look has all been taken over by the industry. In a way, music's all been silenced. That's why I feel strongly about the over sexualizing of young women. As long as you're visually distracted, you're not really listening."

O'Connor used Boyfriend singer Bieber as an example, adding, "Male artists too. Justin Bieber, he's being sold on sexuality, but he's too young to even understand what's going on."

She confessed that as a seasoned singer she still experiences getting pimped by the industry "every single day."
