When Pink walked the red carpet at Billboard's Woman in Music event on Tuesday in New York City, an Access Hollywood reporter called her an inspiration to younger artists coming up, including Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga.

The comparison, however, didn't sit right with the outspoken star, who responded, "Don't say that. I mean, maybe. I don't have anything to say about that."

The 34-year-old explained the meaning behind her comment and added: "I hope that I inspire women to put their clothes on, really."

Pink, who released her debut album in 2000, was chosen to be Woman of the Year at the annual event. The superstar had quite a year in 2013. Her sixth studio album, The Truth About Love, became her first record to go to No. 1 on Billboard.

The singer is also nominated for Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo for Just Give Me a Reason featuring Fun's Nate Ruess at the 2014 Grammy Awards. The song also earned Pink her fourth No. 1 single.

"I was absolutely shocked and surprised to hear that Billboard named me Woman of the Year," Pink told Billboard about the honor.  "It's been an incredible year and I feel so grateful to radio for sticking by me, and to the fans and friends and all of the incredible talent that I was fortunate enough to work with for this album."

Her husband, Carey Hart, who walked the red carpet by her side, was proud of his lady and her achievement.

"I'm just glad she's finally getting the recognition that she deserved for so long," he told Access Hollywood.
