Amanda Bynes Post Rehab: Troubled Actress Looking for Plea Deal For 2012 DUI Case Trial? [VIDEO]
Amanda Bynes' lawyers are working on a plea bargain that could help her avoid jail time for charges stemming from her 2012 DUI case.
The retired actress pleaded not guilty in May 2013 denying that she was drunk or high when she allegedly hit a Los Angeles County Sheriff's car on April 6, 2012.
She was previously cited for driving without a license near Burbank airport in September 2012 and had two misdemeanor charges from prior hit-and-run incidents dropped because she reached civil settlements with the victims.
Attorneys brought the April 2012 DUI case back to a courtroom Tuesday, Jan. 7, but Los Angeles County Judge Edward Moreton Jr. set a new pre-trial hearing for Feb. 20. A different judge ruled Bynes, 27, competent in November to stand trial for her two-year-old misdemeanor case.

Bynes' lawyers wouldn't speak to reporters outside court. Sources said both sides are reportedly working on hammering out a plea deal that will allow them to not only avoid a trial, but jail time as well for Bynes.
Bynes was released from an in-patient psychiatric treatment facility in November and has been living with her parents under a mental health conservatorship ever since. She is now attending outpatient treatment services several times a week and enrolled in classes at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, a different source reportedly said in December.

"She's doing really well," a source said. "If she stays on her program, she'll be just fine."
Bynes was formally diagnosed with schizophrenia after months of disturbing behaviors, including Twitter rants, allegedly tossing a glass bong out of a New York City apartment window, and setting a makeshift fire in a stranger's Southern California driveway last July.
