The message garnered attention from other A-listers and was retweeted by singer P!nk.
Sidibe attended the awards ceremony Sunday night in a custom-made dress by her stylist Daniel Musto, with Michael Costello Couture. Many Twitter users were vocal about how much they disliked the dress, making comments like "Geez! She looks like the chubby ghost from Casper," and, "I get it Gabourey Sidibe you tried to do the 'hour-glass' look in that dress. You just missed it about 10 hours."
Sidibe's fans came in her defense before and after the actress posted her own tweet about the criticism.
American Horror Story: Coven was nominated at the Golden Globes for Best Mini-series or Motion Picture made for Television. It lost to HBO's Behind the Candelabra.
Sidibe attended the Golden Globes with costar Taissa Farmiga.
"My doll @t_farmiga has the best face! She looks like a dead baby. She knows what I mean! #GoldenGIobes," Sidibe tweeted along with a picture of the two actresses in the car.
