New reports are surfacing that John Travolta had a six-year gay affair with his pilot in the '80s before his marriage to wife Kelly Preston. The claims are made by pilot Doug Gotterba's ex-boyfriend in the latest issue of the National Enquirer. Joan Edwards, who dated Gotterba and was a former secretary to Travolta, told the publication that she knew the actor was gay.

Edwards, who worked for Travolta between 1978 to 1994, told National Enquirer:  "Of course I knew he [Travolta] was gay. It never bothered me."

She quotes that Doug's ex-boyfriend Robert Britz, with whom he had a relationship after Travolta, said: "Doug told me right at the beginning of our relationship that he'd had a homosexual relationship with John Travolta in the 1980s."

Gotterba is not actually quoted directly in the report but claims: "Doug said that he hated sleeping with John because his body was very hairy and he didn't like they way John smelled." He continued: "John would also become very heavy between movies. Doug called him "huge" and said it turned him off. After a few years, Doug grew apart from John sexually, and John's advances eventually started to repulse him,' Britz said, adding: 'The relationship ended shortly thereafter."

The Enquire reported that Travolta covered up his relationship at that time by going on dates with Brooke Shields. He went on to marry wife Kelly Preston in 1991. They had a son, Jett, who passed away suddenly in 2009. They also have a 12-year-old daughter Ella Bleu and an 18-month old son, Benjamin.

The new allegations of his secret gay relationship emerge as Travolta is slapped with lawsuits from masseurs claiming that the actor tried to make sexual advances on them. To add more fuel to the fire, a photograph of the actor cross-dressing decades ago also re-surfaced recently.
