Marvel is paving the way for the Phase Two film with two new stories, and the company has released some interesting new images for 'Prelude #1'. Due out on April 2, the first comic will explore Nebula's past and how she became linked to the Mad Titan.

Just as Nebula and Ronan will be chasing Star-Lord and his orb throughout the upcoming film, Nebula and Gamora will be searching for the same item during the prelude. Unsurprisingly, they won't have much luck.

Instead, Nebula will find herself in a thorny situation and Gamora, acting on Thanos' orders, will leave her behind.

So what ramifications will this story have on the James Gunn film? It's no secret that Gamora has past has connections Thanos, but it remains to be seen how stale those ties will be by time Guardians of the Galaxy takes place.

'Prelude #1' is inked by Wellinton Alves and penned by Andy Lanning and Dan Abnett.

Guardians of the Galaxy will hit theaters on Aug. 1.
