Following photos of her looking happy and healthy once again after a six-month stay in rehab, one of Amanda Bynes' former Nickelodeon co-stars has spoken out about the actress.

Drake Bell, the former star of Drake and Josh talked about his old friend while attending the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards on March 29, and told In Touch that the actress truly was doing much better.

"I'm really happy to see that she's doing well. She's a great friend of mine and I'm a huge fan of her," Bell said.

He also spilled that he has been in touch with the actress since she returned to her parents' home in December after being released from rehab.

"Yeah I have. She's well so it's nice to hear," he said.

Bell previously spoke out about the actress in November, saying he hoped he would have a chance to reach out to her once she was home.

"I reached out to her a while ago and I hope she's doing okay," he said at the time. "As soon as she's allowed to make contact again, I'd like to make sure she's alright...She's been a good friend for years."

The two former Nickelodeon stars co-starred on Bynes' sketch comedy show The Amanda Show from 1999-2001.

Bynes recently finished up her first quarter of school at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Orange County, and is reportedly signing up for more classes in April, and has made no immediate plans to return to acting.

"If she was offered an acting job anytime soon, she may not take it because she's so focused on school," a source told E! News March 20.

The news about Bynes is drastically different from the headlines she was making just one year ago for increasingly bizarre behaviors and strange tweets about fellow celebrities.

Last March saw the actress tweeting one of her most controversial tweets about rapper Drake, when she wrote, "I want @drake to murder my vagina."

After setting a fire in a driveway in Thousand Oaks, Calif. in July of last year, she was placed in an involuntary psychiatric hold at a local hospital, where she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

She left a rehab facility where she had further received treatment in December 2013.
