Alexa Ray Joel played a sold-out show at The Carlyle Hotel in New York this week, but for some the focus wasn't on her music, it was on her appearance.

"The continuously-circulating rumors that I have had extensive 'face-work' and undergone breast-augmentation surgery is simply and entirely 100% false," Joel wrote along with an Instagram photo she posted Wednesday. "The only thing I have ever had done is my nose, which I have always been completely candid, honest and open about."

Instead, she gave credit to her "brilliant makeup-artist and stylist, @darlingcait," who helped her obtain her mature look the night of her performance. Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley's daughter also insisted that the press focus more on her talent rather than the way she looks.

Joel's Instagram post comes after Us Weekly posted an article emphasizing on the 28-year-old's transformation and pointing out her "angular jawline, flawless skin and sultry pout." The article also included a split image of Joel as a teen and in the present.

The singer even commented under the story and said, "I was 13 years old in the pic posted as a 'before'. In this latter pic, I am 28 years old [that's the age I am now], I have lost weight simply from maturing, and I have fully contoured "stage makeup" and hair done for my first debut-show at the Carlyle Hotel in NYC. Obviously, I'm going to look different. It's called "growing up"!"
