It appears that Duke University student Miriam Weeks doesn't have to worry too much about defending herself anymore for being a porn star, ever since a discussion took place that went over Weeks's rights to perform in X-rated films.

Miriam Weeks's Parents React To Daughter's Porn Career?

The discussion took place on Wednesday night at the Sanford School of Public Policy. According to The Duke Chronicle, students, professors and sex workers collaborated on feminism and cultural perspectives on sex. The point of the discussion was to give a stronger insight on using sex as work.

"We wanted to move beyond one woman's decision to engage in sex work," professor Gunther Peck said. "To talk about sex as work immediately ruptures beliefs held dear by many people. To recognize that is to recognize what the stakes are of this conversation."

Miriam Weeks Quitting Porn?

Duke Student Government Vice President for Equity and Outreach Jacob Tobia said that exchanging sex for any type of personal gain is fairly common at Duke since some students are apparently known to do this to be a part of organizations.

"If we're going to attack Belle, we have to attack ourselves too," Tobia said about Weeks, referring to her by her porn name, Belle Knox. "We have to think far more about what systems we participate in. It behooves us to stop thinking about ourselves as not sex workers."

Weeks also made an appearance at the discussion, where she brought up the fact that porn stars actually do have lives behind the camera.

"No one wants to consider that we have hopes and dreams and ambitions," Weeks said. "No, instead we are hoes and bimbos. I reject this."
