Naked Miami cannibal Eugene Rudy who attacked and chewed up 75 percent of a homeless man's face was only found to have used marijuana, but no bath salts. Authorities revealed Wednesday that "bath salts" were not the cause of the bizarre behavior that drove Rudy to commit the horrific attack.

The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner Department confirmed that Eugene's body did not show "any other street drugs, alcohol or prescription drugs, or any adulterants found in street drugs."

The statement released by the Medical Examiner Department also said: "The department has also sought the assistance of an outside forensic toxicology reference laboratory, which has confirmed the absence of 'bath salts,' synthetic marijuana and LSD."
The cannibal attack in Miami last month involved 31-year-old Eugene to attack 65-year-old Ronald Poppo. Authorities had initially blamed bath salts for his bizarre behavior.

The attack happened off a highway in Miami at 2 p.m. where the naked human zombie was eventually shot by police twelve times after eating a homeless man's face despite orders from a nearby cop to stop the attack.

Witness Larry Vega told WSVN: "The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, 'Get off!' The guy just kept eating the other guy away, like, ripping his skin." Vega got hold of a police officer who also ordered Eugene to get off the man, but he continued to tear his skin apart.

Eugene, 31, reportedly growled at police and refused to stop his violent attack. According to The New York Daily News, Eugene continued "chomping on the man's ears, nose and cheeks -- and even tried to gouge out his eyeballs."

Victim Ronald Poppo has since been recovering from the attack. He has received numerous skin grafts on his face. He continues to recover at the Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. His left eye had been gouged out by Rudy and has been patched over with a skin graft. Doctors are hoping to save his right eye, thought it still remains very damaged.
