The new preview for season 2 of Masters of Sex was revealed on May 9 and captures the tension between Bill and Virginia after things go a bit awry.

Season 2 Plot Reveals Ahead of Summer Premiere; Less Sex More Drama?

It seems like Virginia (Lizzy Caplan) opts out of the experiments as the project seems to have projected her as a promiscious person, and she is getting proposed by various men in the field of medicine. And it seems like this situation brings out Bill's (Michael Sheen) real feelings for Virginia and they come under the scanner. In the clip, Bill is seen standing at Virginia's door, looking helpless, as he says to her, "I need you."

The trailer focusses on Virginia and Bill and the trials that they are facing in the next phase of their research and huge changes in their personal lives -- as Virginia leaves Bill and seems to be working with someone else, and Bill is now a father.

Lizzy Caplan 'Insanely Embarrassed' By Sex Scenes? Virginia Will 'Piss Women Off' in Season 2?

In an interview Michael Sheen confirmed that his character would definitely not be up to the tast, which didn't come as too much of a surprise as Bill has always been a bit of an emotional cripple.

On April 15 the first promo for the second season of Masters of Sex was revealed in which Virginia is seen complaining about being "propositioned for sex a dozen times a day" since the duo's presentation was released in the medical community. In one bit we see her fighting off a colleague in the rest room. She seems to be telling Masters that she is quitting when she says, "I am afraid I have lost my appetite for that."

Season 2 of Masters of Sex returns to Showtime on July 13.
