Netlfix will be accesible to most of Europe -- in countries like Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and Luxembourg -- by the end of this year but the service will be different depending on the region. This will be the case not only because of a lack of rights to certain movies in some countries but also because they will be taking into account various factors to decide what's suitable for the market and that might also be sourced from piracy sites to find out what's popular in a country.

Interestingly enough, while House of Cards is Netflix's original show, it does not own international rights to air it in a foreign country for the first time, Germans aren't as familiar with the series, and "will not understand what their American friends have been talking about" according to BusinessWeek.
