Agent Coulson is the new director of SHIELD, but that doesn't necessarily mean he will be making an appearance in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Coulson's (Clark Gregg) previous work with Earth's Mightiest Heroes ended rather badly, but a lot has transpired since Loki (Tom Hiddleston) stabbed him through the heart (see video below). Although SHIELD's former director (Samuel L. Jackson) and top agent (Cobie Smulders) will be involved in Age of Ultron, it is unknown how important the broken agency will be when the Avengers assemble once more.

"I feel like this is a good place to announce that I have no idea," Gregg joked at Comicpalooza when asked if he would be joining the Avengers 2 cast. "I'm not kidding when I say I don't think so. I have no reason to believe that. The way it works with Marvel is if some big thing like that is going to happen, I'll get a weird text from not enough numbers in the middle of the night and suddenly I'll be on a plane to Age of Ultron, but I don't think so."
