As season 5 of The Good Wife recently wrapped, it seemed like the show said its farewell to Zach Florrick (Graham Phillips) as he left for college and packed up his things at home, but new reports suggest that that was not meant to be goodbye..

Cary Will 'Push Things In An Odd Direction' With Kalinda As Their Relationship Is Tested?

On May 26, E!Online revealed that Zach wasn't out of the picture yet. The creators of the show Robert and Michelle King told the entertainment publication that they weren't quite done with that character yet. Though they did state that they weren't sure if he will be a series regular like before. So the Florrick brood will still have a role to play in the show.

While Zach leaving for school was definitely a part of the finale and signified the many big changes that were affoot in Alicia's (Julianna Margulies) life, his story wasn't the focus of the show.

Alicia Will Run For State's Attorney As Show Becomes More Political?

One of the important storylines that was teased out and will be be picked up in the next season related to Diane (Christine Baranski) and Alicia's career. Diane was being asked to run for State's Attorney amidst all the chaos and office politics at Lockhart/Gardner where the partners have been contriving to kick her out of the firm and take over after Will's (Josh Charles) death. Towards the end of the episode, with Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) by her side, Diane decided to make a big move, and asked Florrick/Agos if she could join them.

This led to the conclusion of the episode where Eli Gould (Alan Cumming) is seen proposing that Alicia become a candidate for State's Attorney. The cliffhanger obviously had to do with the big decision Alicia will have to take now.

The finale, titled A Weird Year, aired on May 18.
