Hailee Steinfeld is one of the most recent actors to be cast as a new character in the highly anticipated Pitch Perfect 2.

Katey Sagal Joins Pitch Perfect 2 Cast

Steinfeld's character will be joining the film's a ccapella group. Her mother will be played by Sons of Anarchy's Katey Sagal, who originally wanted to be a singer before becoming an actor.

With Sagal's background and the basic premise of the film, for which details have yet to be disclosed, does Steinfeld have the background to prepare her? Or will she be learning to sing as she goes ala Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd?

Anna Camp Returning for Pitch Perfect Sequel

Apparently the young actress does have experience in the music industry, if not necessarily as a singer herself. She was featured as an actor in Endlessly by The Cab in 2012 and is known for being good friends with famed singer Taylor Swift.

While Hailee Steinfeld got her start in modeling, she quickly became a star after appearing in the award-winning, dark western True Grit. The 17-year-old actress has made quite a few movies since her breakout role, even starring in the latest Romeo and Juliet film.

The young actress's biggest film thus far has been Ender's Game in which she starred alongside Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Hugo) and Harrison Ford (The Fugitive, 42).

Regardless of her background, Steinfeld is set to sing in Pitch Perfect 2, which will be helmed by creator and first-time director Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Man on a Ledge).

The film is set to be released by Universal on May 15, 2015.
