In season 5 of the show it Peter was seen flirting with his sizzling office intern, behavior that raised a Eli Gould's (Alan Cumming) eye brow. But as Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Peter had agreed on an arrangement, where they will remain married only for public appearances to be able to milk their power couple engagement, and were free to pursue romances with other people privately. This left the big question hanging towards the end of season 5, if Peter would actually act upon the flirtations with the young intern, something Eli forbids owing to Peter's notorious past that almost jeapordized his political career. In a recent interview with TVLine, co-creator of the show, Robert King suggetsed that Peter might actually take that forbidden route.

"It all comes down to [actor] availability, but yes," King said. "How does that work? Can it work? Is it truly possible that you can have an agreement with your spouse that the sexual relationship is over and the love has to be put on hold, even though we're going to use each other for what power we can give each other?"

He then alluded to the fact that fans might be in for some more drama this coming season.

"Chris [Noth] and Jules [Margulies] seem very willing to take us there, so we're up for it," he added.

The highlight of the finale for season 5 was Eli Gould (Alan Cumming) proposing Alicia (Julianna Margulies) becomea candidate for State's Attorney. The cliffhanger obviously had to do with the big decision Alicia will have to take now.

The finale, titled A Weird Year, aired on May 18.
