One Direction may have a new fan in superstar tennis player Andy Murray. Niall Horan and Liam Payne caused quite the stir when they attended Wimbledon last week, but Murray was impressed with how the boys handled the mass hysteria.

"I have a lot of respect for anyone that has to deal with that level of hysteria and fame," Murray said after the boys attended the tennis tournament. "I'm still quite fortunate, I can put a cap on and walk my dogs with [girlfriend] Kim and go relatively unnoticed. I can't imagine what it would be like if every time I left the house there were crowds of screaming fans."

One Direction has some of the most intense fans in the world. Rabid 1D fans are called Directioners.

"It must be tough, but then at the same time," Murray said, "if it weren't for those screaming fans then they wouldn't be as huge as they are. So I guess everything comes at a price."

During their recent concert stop in Amsterdam, fans were so intense that Horan had to tell them to calm down for fear of injuring his knee. On June 25, Horan tweeted to his fans, "Also guys! Can you limit what gets thrown on stage please! Coz somethin thrown at me tonight! Hit my knee! A lot of pain from it!

"Never wana sound like I'm complaining! But only having my operation 5 months ago, I still get a bit of pain and I'm very scared about it."

Horan reportedly was hit in the knee with an object and had to limp off stage.

One Direction's next tour stop is Dusseldorf on July 2.
