Pop star Katy Perry was recently linked to John Mayer, but some may have forgotten that she was once married to actor Russell Brand, and things are reportedly taking a different turn in the divorce.

Katy Perry Got 'Fed Up' With Rihanna?

On Sunday, Celebrity Fix reported that Perry is looking for an annulment from Brand more than a year after the divorce. This means that the marriage would be voided, and will allow Perry to wed again in a Catholic church. Apparently, she can't do this with just a divorce.

"Although they've been divorced for years now, Katy wants a clean slate and has started the process to wipe the first marriage from her record," a source said.

Even though the Wide Awake singer might be determined to settle this, it turns out that her ex-husband might feel differently since the site mentioned that she hasn't heard from him yet.

"She's trying to get Russell to agree, but so far he's not cooperating," the source said. "They still don't speak. She is going through his people, but so far she isn't hearing anything back."

It might come off as a surprise for some that Perry would want to have an annulment so randomly, but it's apparently because due to her parents' values.

"It's important to her parents that the quickie wedding does not count in the church and she doesn't understand why Russell can't do that for her parents," the source said.

"She knows his approval is just a formality, but she is still hurt about that break-up and wants to kind of say publicly that it was a mistake she wants to wipe off the books," the source added.
