While The CW isn't divulging any details about season two of the hit spin-off The Originals, some of the show's open casting calls manage to give a little insight into the direction the season will be taking.

More Violence On The Way For The Originals Season 2

Last month Project Casting announced that the series is looking to cast men and women between the ages of 18 and 60, and children between the ages of nine and 12, as villagers for a flashback scene taking place in 990 A.D.

As the only characters around during this time, it looks like the flashback will center around the Mikaelson family, most likely Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) or perhaps their parents. Some of the other Mikaelson brothers are also rumored to be entering this season, and so the Viking flashback could be part of that introduction.

Actress Phoebe Tonkin Dishes On The Originals Romance

A few days after the calling for Viking extras another notice went up calling for season two extras "to play artsy, bohemian, and musician types."

A call for the "artsy" suggests that the series intends to continue with its original tone, established during season one with the setting of New Orleans, Louisiana. The location played a big part of the show last season, functioning almost as a character of its own.

Apparently show runners have no intention of toning down street scenes, taking full advantage of the atmosphere surrounding the series' dark narrative.

The Originals returns to The CW for a second season Monday, October 6th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
