Did Luke Grimes Leave True Blood Because He Didn't Want To Play Gay?

True Blood is airing its final season right now and gave fans a shock last Sunday when the show killed off werewolf (and Sookie love interest) Alcide played by Joe Manganiello.

Manganiello admitted he was sad about his exit after the show aired. "I don't know, sad. Sad is probably the safest word I can say," the Magic Mike star said about how he felt about Alcide's demise. "Hopefully, my character will be remembered for his heart and having a big heart. But I will probably be remembered for taking my shirt off and growling. It is what it is." But, Manganiello did also admit that it was necessary so that Sookie and Bill could end up together.

True Blood airs on Sunday night's at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
