While Comic-Con didn't include the reveal of who would play the famed mystic, Marvel's Kevin Feige did take the time to talk about what fans could expect from the team behind Doctor Strange.

'Her' Actor Joaquin Phoenix Eyed For Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' Lead Role

During a roundtable interview, Feige talked about what the supernatural journeys that Strange takes would look like, and how they wanted to portray them.

"Doctor Strange is a classic Marvel origin story, because he's got one of the best origins ever. And it is our opportunity to take a left turn into the supernatural," Feige said.

"Now, what is the definition of 'supernatural'? It varies. We like the idea of playing with alternate dimensions. [Doctor] Strange, in a very [Steve] Ditko, crazy astro-trip way, traveling through dimensions and traveling through other realms is something we think is very cool. And playing with perceptions of reality."

One way they could portray them is like the science trips that audiences just took on Fox with the revived Cosmos.

"I just watched the Neil deGrasse Tyson Cosmos series, which is amazing, and which may as well be an acid trip. It may as well be Doc Strange," Feige said.

"It is a mind-bending [series], all based in physics and based in quantum mechanics, and we're going to play a lot with the notion of that as an explanation for how the sorcerers do what they do."

The visuals that Cosmos highlighted being a template for Doctor Strange sounds fantastic. While the story may not initially fly with audiences, many people could get drawn in because of the gorgeous visuals.

Doctor Strange is set to journey to theaters in 2016.
