Brittany Murphy's life will be scripted for the first time for a Lifetime biopic coming to television in September.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that the two-hour movie, titled The Brittany Murphy Story, will chronicle the star's rise to fame and her life before she died on Dec. 20, 2009 at the age of 32. It will also showcase her husband Simon Monjack, who passed away five months after she did at 40 years old.

Actress Amanda Fuller - who plays in ABC's Last Man Standing - will play the Hollywood star. Murphy began her career in the early '90s and went on to star in many popular films including Clueless, Girl Interrupted, 8 Mile and Just Married.

Murphy's mother, Sharon Murphy, will also be a focus in the film and will be played by Ray Donovan's Sherilyn Fenn.

Years after her daughter's death, Sharon released a statement to debunk rumors that the actress was murdered. The claims, she said, were made by Brittany's biological father, Angelo Bertolotti. In the statement - written for THR - Sharon said that tests proved her daughter "died of natural causes" and that Bertolotti was never a part of their daughter's life.

"It sends pain through my heart when I read [in recent reports about Bertolotti's lab testing results] that 'the family said' - meaning Angelo - because he was never her family in reality," she said. "Angelo has shown he only wants to trade on Brittany's life, career and good reputation -- even at the cost of putting a cloud over her memory. His actions have hurt the people she actually lived with, loved and considered her dearest friends and family."

Brittany's mother, however, was reportedly not contacted about the upcoming movie.

The Brittany Murphy Story will premiere on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 8 p.m. on Lifetime.
