While all eyes were closed during the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards for a moment of silence to recognize the life of 17-year-old Michael Brown who was shot & killed by a police officer, Twitter gave Kim Kardashian and two younger Jenner sisters no mercy after they were caught on their cell phones.

As cameras panned the crowd's reaction for the solitary moment, Kardashian and Kylie and Kendall Jenner were seen looking at their phones. In true Twitter form, several fans decided to call out the famous sisters for blatantly disrespecting the cause, BuzzFeed reported Sunday night.

One fan wrote, "Let's not pretend we're shocked the #Kardashian girls were texting during a moment of silence for #Ferguson at the #VMAs".

Another tweeted a sarcastic comment and implied that Kardashian doesn't know anything about the situation and thinks Ferguson is a band.

"Kim Kardashian was apparently texting during the Ferguson tribute at the VMA's, but in her defense she doesn't even like that band."

Other Twitter users took a similar approach and tweeted, "'Who is Ferguson?' - Kim Kardashian" while another added, "I would pay TOP DOLLAR to see Kim Kardashian point out Ferguson on a map."

But the oldest sibling of the Kardashian/Jenner clan wasn't the only one in the famous family to get backlash.

Viewers also dissed Kylie and Kendall Jenner for being on their phones as well.

One fan wrote, "Kylie and Kendall Jenner be like 'RIP FERGUSON'".

Another added, "They're doing a tribute for Ferguson and Kylie Jenner is on her phone. Okay. Oh f---ing kay."

The unarmed Brown was shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Mo. on August 9. Since then, the St. Louis suburb has seen countless protests as well as unrest and violence. Rapper Common took his appearance during the award show Sunday night as an opportunity to call for a moment of silence and bring awareness to the ordeal.
