Hayley Atwell is ready to pick up her gun and jump into the post-WWII world as filming begins for Agent Carter.

Set to premiere during Agents of SHIELD's winter hiatus, the Marvel series will follow to exploits of Carter in the wake of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As the start of production draws ever nearer, Atwell has swapped England for Los Angeles and will soon trade 2014 for the 1940s.

"On my way to LA.... let the adventure begin!!!" Atwell tweeted on Sunday.

However, the Agent Carter premiere will not mark Atwell's first foray into the Marvel TV world. Instead, Peggy Carter will pop up in the Agents of SHIELD Sept. 23 premiere.

Although it is unknown what age Carter will be during her guest staring gig, the timeline Agent Carter will drop the future SHIELD agent right back in the 40s where Captain America left her, before the Agent Carter one shot (see video below).

"If you think of the short as sort of the end of the series, the series would be leading up to that moment where she gets assigned to SHIELD," explained executive producer Michele Fazekas, according to IGN. When the series picks up, Agent Carter will be "working at SSR, post-war -- so it's post-war, post-Captain America. As far as she knows, Captain America's dead. So that's where the world lives."
