Tyler Hoechlin's sour wolf spent half a season learning to live as a human, but now the born wolf will have to learn how to master a new set of supernatural skills. While he may not be an Alpha, the new and improved Derek will certainly be an asset to Scott's (Tyler Posey) pack.

"It is to say he may not never be an alpha again, but he's reached a level of power that he can manipulate his body so he has that control now, he's just not the leader of a pack," series creator Jeff Davis told Entertainment Weekly. "In many ways, it's like having a very powerful second in command almost. He is Lancelot. If Scott is King Arthur, then Derek is very much Lancelot."
