Klaus Mikaelson is not happy, which means someone's in for a world of hurt when The Originals returns to The CW for its second season next month.

Having given up his child and facing the return of his monstrous father, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) will be facing a lot of enemies. And soon.

"If you remember the finale, there was a spell cast by Genevieve that bound Klaus' strength to these rings that the wolves had," explained Morgan in an interview with Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday. "So every full moon the wolves they wouldn't change, they would get more powerful and that power would come from Klaus so it would be zapped from him, so he's been weakened by these rings."

As one of New Orleans most powerful creatures, a hybrid and an original vampire, a weak Klaus is not ideal when there are enemies to be vanquished.

"He's been expressing himself through more painting, which as we know from when he's talked about painting before, it's a method of control for Klaus," continued the actor. "He does it to try and feel in control of everything, and I think he's feeling particularly out of control at the moment having had to give away his daughter and lose the one thing that truly mattered to him."

While Morgan admitted that Klaus will be trying to "deal" with the absence of his daughter Hope through painting, that particular method of coping won't last thing.

"It turns out that he's got to resort to his old art form," declared Morgan, "Mass murder."

He revealed that the new season will hit the ground running, with plenty of conflict and violence in the very first episode.

The Originals returns to The CW for a second season on a new night Monday, October 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
