With the release of his new album Bringing Back the Sunshine on Tuesday, country artist Blake Shelton has decided to return to his roots and, in doing so, opened up a little about his past.

Blake Shelton Débuts His New Album

On Tuesday the singer chatted with People about his early years, playing "two truths and a lie" with details from his life and career. The publication then challenged fans a guess at the statements before revealing, in Shelton's own words, which were true and which one was not.

Shelton claimed he's "french-kissed a frog…moonlights as a watermelon farmer…[and] is afraid of fireworks."

So which one's false? Not the one you might expect.

"I love fireworks," declared the musician in revealing his final statement to be the lie, "And to this day, the second a fireworks stand opens near my house-and it always is like a day or two before my birthday-I go. I always sweat it out that they're not going to open for my birthday, especially when I was a kid."

If the fireworks fear was Shelton's deceiving statement, that means he really has kissed a frog and moonlights as a watermelon farmer.

Does his wife and fellow country singer Miranda Lambert have some competition? Certainly not.

"Once at a summer cookout in the neighborhood as a kid, I had a frog in one hand and a drink in the other," he explained. "I wanted to switch hands and so I put the frog in my mouth and closed it and switched hands with my drink and got the frog back out."

Shelton also admitted that he was only four at the time and remembered it mostly for the reaction he received. "My mom and all the old ladies from the neighborhood started screaming at me and like tackling me to get this frog out of my mouth," he added. "I'll never forget it for the rest of my life."

Probably least surprising is Shelton's secret career as farmer, though his hatred for watermelons does make it a peculiar hobby.

"I plant at least 10 acres of watermelons every year-and I hate watermelons," he admitted. "I don't know why I do it. It's random and weird. My step-dad likes them, but Miranda doesn't even really care for them that much. Normally, it never makes it to the point where they even get eaten because deer eat them so fast."

When Shelton isn't busy farming or kissing frogs, he's putting out music and the singer couldn't be more excited for his Tuesday release.

Bringing Back the Sunshine is now available for purchase in stores and online. It was released on September 30.
