While a host of Spider-Man villains will be causing problems for the web slinger in spin-off films that will start in 2016, it would seem that a few of them could creep into the hero's third standalone movie and it could feature one of his famous challengers.

Is Shailene Woodley Still Going To Play Mary Jane Watson In 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3?'

A Venom spin-off movie is set for 2017 with Alex Kurtzman directing and the villain will be set up after his origin is told in that movie. It will allow for the character to be fleshed out and be set as Venom by the end of the movie. Could this lead to Venom and Carnage going up against Spider-Man in the third movie?

It is a possibility as the third Spider-Man movie will most likely look to include a villain from either Venom or the Sinister Six to fight Spider-Man instead of flooding the hero with multiple adversaries like last time. It still is yet to be seen, but it may be likely that Andrew Garfield shows up as Spidey in Sinister Six to fight the villains.

Is The 'Sinister Six' Setting Up For The Demise Of Spider-Man In His Third Solo Movie?

While not all of them would get caught, Sony may let them sit on the sidelines and allow Venom, who wouldn't need Spider-Man in the movie, to take over as the main villain and cause problems with Carnage, who would be fighting Venom in the spin-off.

This would allow Spidey to face one of his most famous bad guys and also only have to focus on two villains that work well together, at least for the story.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is set to come out in 2018.
