Kerri Walsh Jennings, who admited to having "pink eye," hugged and kissed her team mate Misty May-Treanor last night.

The USA beach volleyball stars were defeated in the first set by Austria during the women's preliminary round match at the London Games.

The move caught reporters by surprise because "pink eye" is contagious and the volleyball star announced at a press conference in London that she would take the necessary precautions to reduce the chance of spreading the infection.

Handshakes, high-fives after wins were some of the methods she mentioned she had stopped.

"I'm doing everything I can do that's legal under drug-testing, which is scary," Walsh Jennings said. "I've never taken anything, but if I can't see I'm in trouble."

She described the infection as  "super minor ... it looks worse than it is."

She revealed that her husband, Casey Jennings also has "pink eye" but his was worse.

"It looks like his eyeballs got their butts kicked."

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings defeated Austria at Horse Guards Parade during the 2012 Olympic Games.

The teammates have won gold at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic games for Beach Volleyball. This year, the players have also been undefeated. However, they lost one set against Austria, 21-17. The best of two sets are counted towards the final score.
