Smith, Hardy, and Robbie were first named on Thursday as the top picks by the studio to take on the roles in their upcoming Suicide Squad adaptation directed by Fury's David Ayer. New Report Reveals Who Batman & Superman Will Be Facing In 'Justice League?'

Smith has been struggling with the box office results lately and could be looking to jump on the superhero train as a way to bring his star power back up. It will also help with marketing this movie to have a sure-fire draw like him attached to the film.

Hardy is a little more uncertain than the rest as he recently was linked to both Marvel's Doctor Strange in the main role, and the title role in Fox's X-Men: Apocalypse. But Suicide Squad reunites him with the studio of his next blockbuster, Mad Max, and gives him a franchise to help start.

Gosling is still unsure if he wants to join this movie with the actor also reportedly looking at a Houdini franchise and Doctor Strange as other possibilities to get involved with.

Suicide Squad is currently set to be released on August 6, 2016.
