The project appeared to have been stalled for some time, but one of the cast members of Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland has officially confirmed that the movie will begin filming in the next few days.

'Blue Mountain State' The Movie Filming In Wilmington N.C.

In a Q-and-A session about his acting career at a Tulsa, Oklahoma event last weekend, Alan Ritchson, who portrays the titular Thad Castle in the film (a reprisal from the former Spike TV show), confirmed the movie would begin filming by the beginning of next week-great news for fans who have been patiently waiting for the final chapter of Alex, Sammy and Thad's story in their final year as football stars at the fictional Blue Mountain State University.

The film, which was initially supposed to be filming in Charleston, S.C., was recently revealed to actually be filming in Wilmington, N.C. instead, after the Wilmington Regional Film Commission put out a call for crew member applications to work on the film.

'Blue Mountain State' Movie Title Revealed

Though the exact plot of the film has not been revealed, it is expected to pick up where the Blue Mountain State show left off after it was cancelled following its third season. It is expected to pick up Thad, Alex's (Darin Brooks) and Sammy's (Romanski) adventures during the senior year of college at the top football school in the country.

However, despite finding the hard-partying Thad to be a relatable character, Ritchson did admit during the recent panel that he could never live the same way his character does.

"If I was Thad I would be dead," he said.

Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland is expected to open in theaters in Spring 2015. No specific date has been announced.
