While the team of superheroes gets ready for their biggest battle yet in the next Avengers movie, it seems like they will also be saving the galaxy in the two-part third movie that will be shooting next year. But what does that mean for the current director, Joss Whedon?

James Gunn Just Dropped Some Major Clues For The Plot Of 'Avengers 3'

The Daily Mail reported last week that Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 will be filming back-to-back in 2015. While it makes sense that the movie would film them right after one another, it is interesting that Marvel is choosing to get them done next year when the films don't come out until 2018 and 2019 respectively.

It is also a surprise since Marvel will be filming Captain America 3 around the same time as these other two movies, which begs the question: are the rumors that Anthony and Joe Russo directing Avengers 3 still true or does this quick turnaround mean that Joss Whedon is coming back?

Could Emily Blunt Play This Superhero For Marvel?

It could be closer to the second half of the question. With the turnaround happening so quickly, it would probably be difficult for the Russo brothers to make the third Captain America movie and then switch gears to the third Avengers. While Marvel may already be planning both, it seems like a big switch for two directors who are about to take over one of Hollywood's biggest franchises ever.

The 2015 shooting schedule could mean that both Whedon, and some of the stars such as Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth, want to be done with the franchise sooner rather than later. Evans is looking to finish acting and mostly direct after he finishes his Marvel contact while Hemsworth is branching off and doing his own projects.

The schedule could be hinting that Whedon wants to stick around for the third movie, but get it done earlier so he can move on to other post-Marvel projects sooner rather than later.
