YouTube star Bethany Mota may have gained new fans while competing on ABC's Dancing With the Stars this fall, but she has no intention of leaving her vlogging behind.

Mota came in fourth place during this season of Dancing With the Stars, lasting all the way to the final week of competition with fan favorite pro Derek Hough. While TV was a new medium for her, she does not necessarily want to stay there in the near future.

"When you do TV, there are all of these people -- directors, producers -- you have to go to for approval to do things," Mota discussed Tuesday at Business Insider's Ignition conference in New York City. "Online, I'm my own director, my own producer...I can make it happen without approval from someone else."

Of course, she did not actively dislike her competing on Dancing With the Stars, calling it "a fun experience." However, she noted, "I look at YouTube and what I do online as more powerful than that."

On Mota's YouTube channel she discusses relatable teenage girl issues, including hair and makeup tips for school and music as a whole.

Ultimately, Mota said, "it's about finding that balance of: what does my audience want to see, but also, what do I want to make?"

The YouTuber received high scores from the judges throughout her run on Dancing With the Stars, but her competition was so strong that she wasn't able to reach the finale. In another year it's possible that she could have easily made it to the finale and/or possibly won.

It doesn't look like Mota will be continuing her newfound dance skills further, but it could make for a fun video down the road if she were to break out a few moves for her loyal audience.

Dancing With the Stars returns for its landmark 20th season in March on ABC, though the network has not made an announcement on when it will be premiering specifically.
