As the DC universe begins to take shape, work on the upcoming Wonder Woman begins to gain motion as the project gains a director and writer who look to get the franchise going. But will it take place in the present or could a flashback movie be the new course?

Another Film Could Be Entering DC's Cinematic Universe By A Famous Director

The Hollywood Reporter reported on Thursday that Wonder Woman has found a writer in Jason Fuchs, who most recently penned the script for Joe Wright's Pan with Hugh Jackman. Fuchs joins Breaking Bad alum Michelle MacLaren on the script with MacLaren set to also direct the film.

While they didn't add much other information, the project is set to hit theaters in 2017 with Gal Gadot starring after her appearance in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Previous rumors from Bleeding Cool have said that instead of the story for the movie taking place in present day (or after the first appearance by Gadot), it could be a flashback movie that has Wonder Woman appearing in the 1920s. The film would then have the character explore the world, which at that time just gave women the right to vote, from her unique perspective.

It added that future sequels would take place in World War II and then finally modern day.

There is no word yet if Fuchs and MacLaren intend to go that route with the story, but it defintely would be something different for the series. It worked for Marvel with Captain America: The First Avenger and having Diana explore the world through her eyes sounds even more entertaining than the Marvel movie.
